Not only is the taste of the huge, 3-inch-long berries sweet and complex, but they are good in the red stage as well as when purple/black and fully ripe. A slightly thicker skin keeps the fruits from releasing their inky juice all over your fingers! A productive, spreading tree with large, heart-shaped leaves, this mulberry ripens for us in the cool summers of Western WA; it's also a favorite for areas with long, hot and humid summers.  From Islamabad.

Considered reliably resistant to popcorn disease in hot and humid climates. May suffer cold damage during first few years of establishment if subjected to late freezes - be prepared to aggressively protect young trees during late frosts. Water consistently during first two years of establishment. 200 chill hours needed.
