Kandil Sinap Apple

Kandil Sinap Apple

Malus domestica 'Kandil Sinap'

Kandil Sinap, the “sweet apple of Sinap”, was discovered on the Sinap peninsula of the Black Sea, in what is now Turkey, in the 1700's. This apple has an unusual oblong, almost cylindrical, form with a waxy skin, smooth texture, and juicy, sweet-tart, complex flavor. Great for baking and fresh eating, these apples can keep for months! Flavor benefits from very heavy thinning - and this can also keep the tree from lapsing into biennial bearing.

Kandil Sinap is a reliable and heavy bearing tree with an upright form, like a pear tree, that makes it an excellent choice for smaller orchards. Midseason bloom, category 3. Probably lower chill, due to region of origin.  Ripens late, mid October in PNW. Fireblight resistant.

Mature Height: 10' (Dwarf)

Sun: Full Sun

Ripening Time: October

Pollination: Needs a Pollinizer

Dwarf Rootstock: M26
